Home Economics (Food and Nutrition)
The course covers the areas of Nutrition and Health, Food Choices, Food Preparation and Processing and Safety. At all times the work relates to individuals within the home and not to the food industry.
The course is delivered over two periods a week with one period looking at the content of the syllabus and one period supporting and illustrating the work covered through practical situations.
Our current GCSE places a heavy emphasis on practical work and learning through a practical situation.
There are two tiers of Assessment:
- Higher (D-A).
- Foundation (G-C)
Both tiers are examined by:
- Course work 50% of total marks
- Written paper 50% of total marks.
