Outline
PE at Melbourn Village College is very successful due to the excellent facilities, including a gymnasium, multi-use sports hall, flood lit multi games Astroturf, swimming pool and extensive playing fields. Facilities have recently been improved due the partnership with Melbourn Community Sports and the new Fitness Suite opened in 2006.
The department strive to provide team and individual opportunities to represent Melbourn and are very successful in all competitive sporting events.
As well as the specified curriculum hours the department also offers extra curricular clubs in Rugby, Football, Netball, Hockey, Badminton, Tennis, Cricket, Trampolining, Squash, Golf, Aerobics, Boxercise, Triathlon and Table Tennis.
PE is taught to all pupils in KS3 and KS4 for 2 hours per week with the option of a further 2 hours for those opting for the GCSE PE course.
