MVC Music

Our aim is for all students to;

Music at MVC enjoys a reputation for the energy and ambition within the department. In the recent past Arts College status has funded the purchase of 29 Mac Mini computers which are very popular with students.
The subject has an innovative curriculum and attracts a large number of active participants to ‘out of hours’ activities.
All Macs currently run LOGIC PRO.
Music Technology is taught across both Key Stages.
♫ There are at least 4 weekly ensembles
♫ Each year group have their own choir
♫ There are several concerts put on each term
♫ Biannual European music tours
♫ MVC musicians take Grade 5 Theory and the school hosts ABRSM Exams
Students enjoy:
♫ the use of several practise rooms
♫ fine facilities for instrumental tuition
♫ excellent instrumental tutors
♫ access to a recording studio (Music 6)
♫ individual use of keyboards and a computers
♫ quality tuned percussion instruments
Singing is one of the boys’ favourite activities in the music lesson!

The Junction
Cambridge University
The Minden Band, Bassingbourn
MVC GCSE musicians have written operas and are currently working with the Junction who are running workshops at the college exploring contemporary folk rock.
Cambridge University are working with MVC instrumentalists to perform in “The festival of ideas” later this month.
